However, that is seemingly unlikely to happen after Guardiola convinced the full-back to continue at City.

The Sun reports that the City boss dined with the Englishman at the swanky Japanese restaurant MUSU in Manchester and persuaded him to stay.

The meeting is said to have lasted for two and a half hours, with reports claiming the Citizens have since tabled a new offer for the England international.

Pep had previously underscored the significant role Walker is playing in his squad alongside Bernado Silva.

"They are so important to us," he admitted.

“We want them and will do everything. Replacing these two would be so difficult," he added.
